Love this blog entry from Learning in a Flat World. The author (Britt Watwood) is talking about professional development in the Web 2.0 world.
Here’s a quote of interest: “It was a paradigm shift to move from professional development as something you attend to professional development as something for which you take personal responsibility.” He also created an image to represent his personal learning network that I really like. In my work as an instructional coach and also as an educator this year, I would say that this has also been a huge paradigm shift for me. I always felt personally responsible for my growth as an educator but now, with Web 2.0 tools, I have the means to achieve that goal in a much more dynamic way. I’m not just reading a book. I’m networked with tons of other people who push my thinking in new ways. It’s really exciting!
